FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

What buyers actually ask us about ThRiVer: what it runs on, what it needs from you, how it fits your systems, and what it costs.

The platform
What is ThRiVer?

ThRiVer is Effecon's physical-AI platform. You describe the job in plain language and it handles the rest: it sees the scene, works out how to pick each part, plans a collision-free path, and runs the job on a standard industrial arm. Its name is its pipeline: it Thinks, Reacts, and Delivers.

What jobs can it do today?

Bin picking, palletizing, mixed-case palletizing, depalletizing, and packing, all on the same cell. Sorting, quality inspection, machine tending, and kitting are on the roadmap. New applications are new behaviours on the same platform, not new machines.

Which robot arms and cameras does it work with?

ThRiVer is vendor-agnostic. It runs on standard industrial arms, including Yaskawa, Universal Robots, Fairino, ABB, and FANUC. It is camera-agnostic too: it works with standard industrial 3D cameras rather than a proprietary sensor, so you are not locked into our hardware and can keep the brands your team already knows how to service.

Do you need our CAD files or training data?

No. ThRiVer needs no training data, no CAD models, and no fixtures. It detects and segments each part in the scene and estimates its full position and orientation, even for parts it has never seen before. You describe the job, and it works out the rest.

Can it pick shiny or reflective parts?

Yes. Reflective and shiny parts are the case that defeats most conventional 3D vision, and handling them is one of the things ThRiVer is built for, including parts that are jumbled and randomly oriented in a bin.

Running it
Does our team need to write code or use a teach pendant?

No. Setup is in plain language, so the person who knows the job best can brief the cell directly. There is no code and no teach pendant. ThRiVer shows you the plan and a 3D preview, and nothing moves until you approve it.

What happens when a pick fails?

ThRiVer runs at a >95% pick success rate, and every cycle is recorded: how long it took, whether it succeeded, and where it slowed down. You get a failure breakdown per cell, you can watch the job live in 3D, and you can take manual control at any time.

Our products change often. Can we set the cell up for a new job ourselves?

Yes, and that is the point of the platform. When the job changes you describe the new one, instead of booking an integrator to reprogram the cell. The same cell runs different applications without new hardware and without a new project.

Integration, IT, and safety
Does it integrate with our ERP, WMS, MES, or PLC?

Yes. ThRiVer connects to your line and your business systems over standard industrial interfaces, and the specific integration is scoped and built during the concept-design phase. The cell fits the workflow you already run, rather than forcing you to change it.

Does it need an internet connection, or can it run on-premise?

ThRiVer runs on an edge device in your own plant. The cell keeps running whether or not it has an internet connection, so your production never depends on our cloud being up.

Who is responsible for cell safety and CE marking?

Every cell we deliver is CE marked, and that covers the risk assessment and safeguarding for the complete installation, not just the robot arm. If you are licensing ThRiVer to run on cells you build yourself, it drops into the compliance process you already follow.

Working with us
Do we buy a cell, or license the software?

Either. ThRiVer Turnkey is the complete solution: we deliver the robot, vision, gripper, integration, and support, so you get a running application rather than a project to manage. ThRiVer Software licenses the platform to run on the cells you already deploy, as a per-robot annual subscription. Pricing is on request for both.

What payback can we expect?

Typically under one year. A ThRiVer cell runs at up to 500 picks per hour with a >95% pick success rate, and it covers the shifts that are hardest to staff. Our ROI calculator estimates the payback for your line from your own labour, throughput, and cell costs.

Can you test it on our actual parts before we commit?

Yes. Send us your items and we will show you the cell picking them. It is the fastest way to find out whether your parts and your job are a fit, before anyone commits to a project.

Still have a question?

Tell us about the job and the parts. If it is a fit we will say so, and if it is not we will tell you that too.
